A recent pilot study published in Alzheimer’s & Dementia: Translational Research & Clinical Interventions has identified a potential new role for creatine supplementation in supporting brain health in individuals with Alzheimer’s disease.
In the study, participants received 20 grams of creatine monohydrate daily for eight weeks. The findings demonstrated:
- An average 11% increase in brain creatine levels in 85% of participants
- Improvements in specific cognitive domains, including working memory, attention, and reading comprehension
- A significant correlation between elevated brain creatine and improved reading performance
These initial results suggest that creatine may play a supportive role in cognitive health. Further research will help clarify its long-term effects and clinical applications.

Important Note: Creatine supplementation is not appropriate for everyone. If you are considering adding any supplement to your health regimen, we strongly advise speaking with a medical professional.
